How-To Avoid Computer Viruses

Usually about every month, a new virus alert pops up in the national news or on various websites across the globe. Viruses are man-made programs designed to wreak havok on unsuspecting computer systems. Since they are computer programs, they have the ability to delete files, copy and send information, and much more. There are two steps you need to take before anything else:

• Don't open email attachments from people you don't know. Whatever you do, don't download programs from sites that you don't trust.
• Use an antivirus software program and make sure you update the definitions.
